While some accommodation providers encourage a party culture, staying at The Village is more about peaceful living and a balance between social and study commitments. The Coast is full of party venues and we encourage residents to enjoy all there is on offer, however, your unit is your sanctuary, for not only yourself but for your fellow house mates as-well. So…. As they say, have a blast! But don’t bring it home with you.
Cleaning of the common areas of your unit is carried out every two weeks. This includes the lounge and dining area, the kitchen and laundry and the common bathroom.
Remember that you will be living with other people and that you all have a say in what happens in your villa. You may have a guest to stay with you for one night per week. You must notify the office during reception hours prior to the arrival of your guest and your guest must stay in your bedroom.
While linen is not included in your boarding services, we offer new and pre-loved linen packs – $135 – $275. For more information on Linen packs please contact reception.
After hours arrivals will need to have pre-ordered and paid for linen packs to guarantee your linen is waiting in your room- Both prepaid and weekly payment options available to purchase or hire linen.
Electricity, Water, 15gb internet allowance and cleaning assistance are all included in your boarding fees. The only other ongoing costs are food and entertainment. At the end of your tenancy you will be required to pay for carpet and mattress steam cleaning in your room as well as share in the costs of a spring clean of the common areas of the unit. As these costs differ from room to room, relevant costs will be available for your particular room, in the information provided when you are offered a room (after applying and before signing an agreement). Spring clean is usually carried out over the summer break.
The Village management places a great deal of importance on the security of residents. All external doors have security screen doors and locks. Each Bedroom also has an individual lock – so no-one has access to your room without your knowledge or permission. . Evening security patrols by a professional security company at random times through-out the evening. Steve and Janelle, or the patrolling security guards can be called at any time if you believe your personal safety, of that of another resident, is in jepody or other such emergency eg: property damage.

Yes: The rental bond is equal to 4 weeks rent and is paid either before arrival or when checking in – the amount of the bond is set by the Residential Tenancy Authority. Your Bond will be forwarded to the Residential Tenancy Authority (a state government body) where it is held, (in your name) until the end of your lease/agreement. When all conditions of your rooming agreement (lease) have been met, the bond is released at the end of your lease into your bank account. Bond is held as security against any repairs required or unpaid rent.

Individual room requests will be approved, where possible – it’s a simple as recording your preference in the Ideal Housemate or Notes section on your application.
